Welcome to Debre Genet Amanuel Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church! Whether you are new to the Orthodox faith or looking for a vibrant Ethiopian community in West Orange, joining us is easy and rewarding. Below, we walk you through every step from the moment you visit our website to your first participation in a worship service.

Why Become a Member?

Membership isn’t just a formality—it’s a gateway to:

  • Spiritual growth through regular sacraments, Bible study, and liturgical celebrations.
  • Community connection with families, youth, and seniors who share your cultural heritage.
  • Service opportunities on our committees, outreach programs, and charitable events.

Step‑by‑Step Registration Process

  1. Visit the Membership Page: Click the “Membership” link in the main navigation or use the direct URL /membership. The page features a clean, full‑width form designed for both desktop and mobile users.
  2. Fill Out the Form: Provide basic information—name, contact details, preferred language (English or Amharic), and any special pastoral needs. All fields are required to ensure we can welcome you properly.
  3. Select a Welcome Session: Choose a date for our monthly “Welcome to the Church” gathering. These sessions include a brief overview of the Ethiopian Orthodox liturgy, introductions to clergy, and a Q&A.
  4. Submit and Receive Confirmation: After submitting, you’ll receive an automated email with a PDF copy of the membership agreement, a welcome packet, and a link to schedule your first confession with Father Michael.

What Happens After You Register?

Our staff will reach out within 48 hours to answer any questions and to confirm your attendance at the welcome session. On your first Sunday, look for a warm greeting from volunteers at the entrance—your new family is excited to meet you!

Additional Resources for New Members

  • Live Stream Services: If you can’t attend in person, join our YouTube livestream.
  • Church Calendar: Stay up‑to‑date on feasts, festivals, and community events.
  • Amharic‑English Bilingual Guides: Downloadable PDFs help you navigate the liturgy in both languages.
