Spring is a season of renewal, and Debre Genet Amanuel Ethiopian Orthodox Church has an exciting lineup of events for families, youth, and the wider community. Whether you plan to attend in person at our West Orange location or join online, we have details that make participation easy.

April 5 – Easter Vigil (ጊዜ ወለም ወርድ)

Our most solemn service begins at 7:00 pm. The Vigil includes the lighting of the Paschal fire, reading of the Resurrection Gospel, and the first Holy Communion of the year. The service will be streamed live on YouTube; simply click the Watch Live link on our website.

April 12 – Family Picnic & Potluck

Celebrate the Resurrection with a community picnic in the church’s backyard. Bring a traditional Ethiopian dish to share. The event starts at 12:00 pm. Children’s games and a short choir performance will follow the meal.

April 20 – Youth Leadership Workshop

Our youth committee hosts a workshop focused on leadership, service projects, and faith formation. Open to ages 13‑18. Register via the Membership Form or the event’s Google Calendar entry.

May 1 – Mother’s Day Service

Honoring mothers and maternal figures from 7:30 am to 9:00 am. Special hymns and a brief talk on biblical motherhood. A photo booth with a backdrop of the church’s iconostasis will be open after the service.

May 15 – English‑Amharic Bible Study Series

Bi‑weekly gatherings at 6:30 pm, alternating between English and Amharic. Topics include the Beatitudes, the Parables of Jesus, and the Psalms of the Ethiopian tradition. Materials are downloadable from the Events page.
